SSC Stenographer 2024: The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) will release the notification for SSC Stenographer Recruitment 2024 on July 26, 2024 The selection process includes a Computer Based Test (CBT) and an Ability Test. The CBT consists of objective questions on general intelligence, general knowledge and English language.
Successful applicants will then take a short writing test. The exam is expected to take place in October or November 2024. Applicants must have passed 12th grade and meet the minimum age requirement of 18-30 years for Grade C and 18-27 years for Grade D. The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) will publish the advertisement for the SSC Stenographer Recruitment 2024 on July 26, 2024. Candidates can apply for the Stenographer posts at grades C and D as soon as the official announcement is published. Candidates are therefore requested to wait for the official announcement.
SSC Stenographer Post details 2024
Name of the post: SSC Stenographer Recruitment 2024 includes posts for Stenographer Grade C and Grade D.
Education : To apply for SSC Stenographer Recruitment 2024, candidates must have completed 12th or equivalent from a recognized school.
Salary: The salary scale for SSC Stenographer Grade C is Rs. 9,300 – Rs. 34,800 while for Grade D it is Rs. 5,200 – Rs. 20,200.
Age Limit: The age limit for SSC Stenographer Grade C is 18 to 30 years and for Grade D it is 18 to 27 years.

Selection Process for SSC Stenographer 2024
The selection process for the SSC Stenographer Recruitment 2024 comprises two main stages.
Computer Based Test (CBT): Candidates will first take an online test consisting of objective questions. The test comprises three sections: General Intelligence and Logical Reasoning, General Knowledge and English Language and Text Comprehension.
Skills test and document review: Applicants who qualify in the CBT are forwarded to the skills test. This is a shorthand test in which applicants have to type out a dictation on a computer. The test checks the speed and accuracy of the shorthand. Documents are also checked at this stage.

SSC Stenographer 2024 Exam Pattern
The SSC Stenographer exam consists of two tiers:
Tier 1: Computer-Based Test (CBT)
Mode: Online
Duration: 2 hours
Total Questions: 200
Total Marks: 200
Sections:
- General Intelligence and Reasoning: 50 questions, 50 marks
- General Awareness: 50 questions, 50 marks
- English Language and Comprehension: 100 questions, 100 marks
Marking Scheme: Each correct answer earns 1 mark. For each wrong answer, 0.25 marks are deducted.
Medium: English and Hindi (except for the English Language and Comprehension section)
Tier 2: Skill Test
Stenography Test:
- For grade C: Dictation at 100 words per minute, transferred to a computer within 40 minutes (English) or 55 minutes (Hindi)
- For grade D: Dictation at 80 words per minute, transferred to a computer within 50 minutes (English) or 65 minutes (Hindi)

Online Registration:
- Visit the official SSC website.
- Navigate to the “Apply” section and select the “Stenographer recruitment” link.
- Fill in the application form with your personal details such as name, date of birth, email id and mobile number.
- After successful registration, you will receive a registration number and password.
Filling the Application Form:
- Log in with your registration number and password.
- Fill out the application form with the required information, including educational qualifications and contact information.
- Upload scanned copies of your photo and signature in the format provided.
Application Fee Payment:
- Pay the registration fee online via Netbanking, credit card, debit card or UPI.
- Fee details: General and OBC applicants – Rs. 100; SC/ST/PwD/Ex-Servicemen and women applicants are exempted from the fee.
Final Submission:
- Check all details entered before final submission.
- Submit the application form and print the confirmation page for future reference.
