- general/eWS candidates: Candidates must be able to show at minimum 55% marks on your Master’s or other equivalent degree from an accredited university.

- Ph.D. Holders: If their Ph.D. degree was awarded by September 19th 1991, they will be qualified to receive a 5% reduction in the requirement for aggregate marks (from 55 percent to 50 percent).
- Subject Requirements: Candidates should take the SET within the subject of their post-graduation. If the subject isn’t specified, they can opt to take the UGC NET/CSIR-UGC test.
- exemptions Anyone who has a UGC/CSIRJRF prior to 1989, or who have passed SET prior to June 1st, 2002, can be exempted from WBSET in Assistant Professor posts.
