Northern Railway Recruitment 2024 In a recent announcement, it was announced that the railway recruitment cell Northern Railway (RRC NR) has issued a call to recruit the recruitment of 4,096 Apprentices in accordance with the Apprentices Act of 1961. Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification
- The candidate must have passed SSC/Matriculation/10th class examination or its equivalent (under the 10+2 examination system) with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks.
- The candidate should also have completed ITI in the trade recognized by NCVT/SCVT through the Government of India.
- Note: Candidates awaiting SSC/Matriculation/10th and ITI results as of the date of the notification are not eligible to apply.
Age Limit
- The Minimum Age is 15 years
- Maximum Age 24, (as as of 16th September 2024.)
- Age Relaxation:
- 5 years for SC/ST applicants.
- Three years of eligibility for OBC candidates.
- 10 years for people who have Disabilities (PwBD).
- Ex-servicemen can enjoy an additional relaxation of age according to the amount of their service in the Defence Forces plus 3 years in continuous been in the service for at least six months.

Application Fee
- Fee: Rs100 (Non-Refundable)
- Exclusivity: Candidates from SC/ST/PwBD/Women are exempt from paying the application fees.
Selection Process
- Merit-Based: Selection will be based on the merit prepared by taking the average of the percentage marks obtained by the candidate in both Matriculation/SSC/10th (with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks) and ITI examination, giving equal weightage to both.
- Tie Breaker: If there is tie, the oldest candidate will be chosen. If the birth date is the same that the person who completed the Matriculation exam earlier will be taken into consideration.
Medical Fitness
- Candidates must meet the minimum requirements for physical fitness, as specified under the Apprentices Act 1961 and Apprenticeship Rules 1992. A medical certificate from a Government-authorized doctor is required at the time of document verification.
Training Period and Stipend
- The duration of training and the stipend will be in accordance with the rules enacted under the Apprentices Act.

- Accommodation or TA/DA will not be offered for participation during the process of selection.
